Battle Board 8.4.0: Intro Comics, Swipe-to-Move, and Offline Magic

Battle Board 8.4.0: Intro Comics, Swipe-to-Move, and Offline Magic

Battle Board 8.4.0 lands today. This update is all about a smoother first impression, more natural controls, and squashing the bugs that interrupted your battles.

What’s New

Meet your heroes in the new Intro Comics

Brand-new players now get a short cinematic intro before the tutorial. The flow goes Main Menu, Intro, Tutorial, so your first minute in Battle Board sets the stage instead of throwing you straight into a fight.

Swipe-to-move on the battle grid

You can now swipe units across the board in both single-player and online matches. Tapping still works. Swiping is just faster once you get the rhythm.

Quicker navigation, everywhere

Swipe left or right to flip through campaign chapters and through pages in the comics panel. No more hunting for arrows.

Friends list, but make it friendly

If your friends list is empty, you’ll see a proper empty state instead of a blank screen, with a nudge to invite someone into the fight.

Fixes & Polish

  • Magic now truly works offline. The misleading “Sorry, magic works only with internet” toast is gone from offline campaign sessions. Magic has been offline-capable for a while; the warning just hadn’t caught up.
  • More accurate swipes in battle. Angled or curved swipes no longer get misread as the wrong direction; the controls now lock to whichever axis you actually moved most.
  • The Shop opens cleanly every time. No more in-app purchase errors after leaving and re-entering the Shop.
  • Correct intro comics for new accounts. Brand-new players now see the right pages (two slides, not four) after going through Tutorial, Shop, Knight campaign.
  • PvP loading screen is back. It now actually appears when you enter a match.
  • Smoother stability on iOS and Android. Several crash and connection-error fixes, including an iOS startup crash and a network reconnect issue on Android, to keep your sessions running.
